As per this thread, I am officially submitting a feature request to globally manage L2 & L3 topology polling in NPM.

Managing this at the node level with thousands of nodes is not sustainable.
Running manual DB queries for most NPM users is also not an option.
My suggestion is to either have a global - disable topology polling button or select nodes to disable polling.
An even better option would be to have a scheduler option to allow polling at a specific time and interval.
In a static environment such as a Data Center, there is no need to poll topology at frequent intervals.
